Rob Farrer is a versatile percussionist who has had the privilege to play with some of the biggest names in the music industry. For the first 10 years of his professional career he was the percussionist with the highly-acclaimed and award-winning pop group, The Divine Comedy. Alongside this Rob appeared both live and in the studio with artists such as Tom Jones, Sir Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel, The White Stripes, Katie Melua, Nitin Sawhney and Guy Chambers.
In recent years Rob has expanded his career over a wider range of musical genre sthat has seen him perform and record with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Chamber music ensembles include being a member of Christian Forshaw’s Sanctuary Ensemble as well as performing with the Colin Currie Group, the Graham Fitkin Band and Tenebrae.
Rob has been very fortunate to play on countless film and TV scores including The Counsellor, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Franklyn, Prometheus, Frankie, The League of Gentlemen, Wild West, Psychoville and Dr Who.
Outside of performing, Rob is the Percussion Co-ordinator at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama Junior Department, and he runs workshops in percussion and performing.
